Youth Groups

At Heritage, we currently have active Youth Groups in each of three age groups: Tweens (Grades 5 & 6), Middle Schoolers (Grades 7 & 8) and Senior High (Grades 9 - 12). All of our groups meet for fellowship and fun on a regular basis, and work together - and separately - on mission projects. For example, our youth led a Christmas worship service at Manor Care, as well as collected donations for our annual "Souper" Bowl Sunday. Youth volunteers are an important part of our annual Vacation Bible School. We are also active with the new Mount Vernon Youth Association, a group formed by Youth Pastors and Directors from churches in our immediate Mount Vernon community. We held a community-wide Dodgeball tournament on February 20 to benefit local Katrina victim relief.

Confirmation classes for youth in 7th and 8th grades are held in February.

Youth Acolytes: Children begin serving as acolytes for the Sunday morning service when they reach the 4th grade. Training takes place as necessary throughout the year.

For more information about Heritage youth activities, as well as Confirmation class, contact Melissa Kirkpatrick, Interim Dir. Christian Ed. or Elder Marty Nau.
